A whole host of rock and metal bands have been confirmed to play live on two stages at the 24th annual Bulldog Bash. Entertainment in the massive Main Stage Marquee kicks off on Thursday August 12th at 5.15pm, and at midday on Friday August 13th on the huge brand new outdoor Area 81 Rock Club Stage.
Visitors to the 23rd annual Bulldog Bash saw a new world record today (Friday), as Eric Teboul hurtled down the quarter mile Shakespeare County Raceway, near Stratford, on board his hydrogen peroxide fuelled drag-bike, at an incredible 233mph in just 5.48 seconds. Eric will be performing exhibition runs on the drag strip all weekend along side the legendary Vanishing Point rocket car – which is a first for the UK.
More records may well fall by the end of the weekend’s drag racing schedule, which will include racers from all major classes performing exhibition displays for the Bulldog’s petrol-head visitors.
Stratford District Council’s licensing committee joined members of the Bulldog Bash management for a tour of the event this afternoon.
The council party visited all the major attractions on site before heading down to the drag strip for some top fuel action. Show visitors greeted the committee members with a standing ovation for the second year running, after they rejected another attempt by Warwickshire police’s ACC Bill Holland to stop the show.
Following their site tour, licensing committee members met representatives from Help for Heroes who are raising awareness and funds to support our injured service men and women throughout the weekend. Help for Heroes smashed their initial £8m target to improve rehabilitation facilities at Headley Court last year and have now set their sights on raising a further £20m to provide recovery homes for service personnel – many of whom will return to active duty following their re-habilitation. Help for Heroes fundraising activities have provided support for a number of other services charities including: £3.5m for Combat Stress and £0.5m to support Homes from Home, which supports families of service personnel who are in need of accommodation whilst their relatives are recuperating from injuries sustained on active duty.
Help for Heroes spokesman Ian Baldry commented “Last year we raised £11,000 with the Help of Bulldog Bash Ltd and the Stratford Rotary Club, we are hoping to top that this year. the Bulldog Bash gives us tremendous support, the bikers are extremely generous, I would like to thank them for inviting us back again.”
