Major Stratford charity benefits from Bikers generosity at the 25th Bulldog

Stratford Rotary club are celebrating 10 years of The Shakespeare Hospice by pledging to donate the lion’s share of money raised at the 25th anniversary Bulldog to the charity.

Founded in 2001 with the assistance of Rotary donations, the Hospice is almost entirely funded by charitable donations and provides a range of much needed services including respite, complimentary therapies, physiotherapy and home care.

Fair weather lifted spirits and encouraged show visitors to open their wallets giving generously to collection teams, on their way from the campsite to the drag strip for a large helping of the Bulldog’s unique brand of high-octane entertainment.

‘Run wot you brung’ drag racers took advantage of the ideal track conditions to experience the buzz of riding flat-out on Shakespeare County Raceways world famous drag strip, whilst spectators settled in to soak-up the atmosphere as tyre smoke drifted across the grandstands.

A much-loved drag racer, who has been a stalwart of the Bulldog bash, John "Canada" van Geytenbeek, has been remembered today. The Bulldog regular tragically died in August last year during a pro drag race run in Drachten, Holland. Friends and fellow bikers paid tribute to him with a mass ride up the drag strip this afternoon.

On the main stage, Bad Manners and headliners Status Quo rocked the crowds into the night and with dry weather forecast for tomorrow show goers get the chance to do it all again - this time with The Damned celebrating their thirty five years in the music business at the Bulldog Bash.
